What To Expect...

Mr. G mixed the sound effects for the movie, "What to Expect While You're Expecting".  Usually we don't attend the premieres of the movies he works on, with the exception of "Twilight" and "Mortal Kombat".  But since this movie featured twins that were adopted from Ethiopia, from the same orphanage my girl Jamie's son is from, I really wanted to go.  I heard the parents were attending the premiere.  The Premiere was at the Grauman's Chinese Theater, which is the where all the famous people have their handprints in cement, and right outside the Hollywood Walk of Fame. I saw Star Wars there when it was re-released and it was an amazing experience.  It's a truly awesome theater.

Anyway, my husband had to be there early in the morning to make sure the movie was set up right.  He had asked earlier if there was any way I could join him.  (originally everyone who worked on it was told there were to be no +1's)  On Mother's Day (the night before the Premiere), the director texted Mr. G and said he got approval for me to attend the Premiere and After Party with him, as a special Mother's Day gift to me.  I tweeted the director and thanked him.  He tweeted back that he expected a big hug from me in return.

So we showed up at the Grauman's Chinese Theater yesterday evening.   We took a picture of ourselves.

We walked inside and met Meredith and Kindred, the parents of the Ethiopian twin boys who played the Ethiopian baby in the movie.  They knew we were coming, so we made plans to meet back up at the After Party and we went to find our seats.  Then we took a picture of ourselves inside the theater.  Because, why not?

Then the director introduced the cast and had them all come on stage before the movie started.

The movie was awesome.  It was entertaining and funny and I honestly can't wait to see it again.  It had something for everyone.  It dealt with unplanned pregnancy, infertility, miscarriage and adoption.  The daddy group had to be my favorite.  Afterwards, we went to the After Party at the Roosevelt Hotel, which was awesome.  Free booze and celebrities.  Need I say more?

The After Party was held at the Hollywood Roosevelt hotel, which I can best describe as swanky old Hollywood.  It's the best After Party I've ever attended.  They did an amazing job.  The food was awesome and the service was exemplary.  And they didn't even pay me to say that.

They had a cool effect going at the pool, where the name of the movie shone down over the water.

At the After Party I got a chance to meet the director and he did take me up on that hug, which I happily gave him as I thanked him for getting me in to the Premiere and After Party.  FYI, Mr. G says this is the best director he's ever worked with.

I had the guts to go up to a few actors and ask to take pictures with them.  You guys know Kristoffer Polaha, the guy from Ringer, right?

And Anna Kendrick, who was also in the Twilight series (she was SUPER nice).

And Joe Manganiello AKA "Alcide" from True Blood... when he stood up and I complained about our height difference for the picture, he told me I wasn't that short, and that I was taller than Sookie.  *thud*

The rest are ninja pics I took...

Chace Crawford

Elizabeth Banks

And Courtney Love.  Yes, Courtney Love.  Don't ask me why she was there.

So there you have it.  A really fun night with a great movie, followed by celebrities, free booze, and then going home with Mr. G.  Who could ask for anything more?!

  1. How exciting! I'm just glad that I get to live vicariously (celebrity sighting, adult chatting, seeing actual other people) through you! :D Thanks for the pics and info!

  2. Awesome! Looks like you guys had a blast. I think you should attend more of these.
