Blogoversary and Book Giveaway!

Hello my little gingersnaps, it's my Blogoversary today! You know what that means, right? I'm doing a 5-book giveaway!

But first... a little history lesson on this little blog. It first started two years ago in January as

The Spank and Ginger Show!

Weren't we so cute? It had more or less the same format it does now, but with Spank and I bantering back and forth about the material. Then when Spank wasn't able to continue, with her blessing I continued the blog two years ago today, under the new "Gingersnaps in the Morning" title.

And here I am, two years later... still plugging along. But I must say this would've never happened without Spank's encouragement and willingness to take the plunge with me to follow this wacky idea for a blog. Without Spank... there would be no Ginger. Spank... there is no me without you.

Moving on to the book giveaway... Many of you know I love reading. And the vast majority of the books I read fall under the "Young Adult" Literature category. Usually when I give away books, I give away YA books. Not today, my little gingersnaps! Oh no! Because this year I branched out and started reading some non-YA books while waiting for some of my favorite YA sequels to come out.

Let me preface this by saying there has never been a problem in the romance department with me and Mr. G. *wiggles eyebrows* But Mr. G and I both noticed that when I read sexier books, Ginger becomes a serious horndog.

After I finished those adult series, I moved on to some of the YA sequels that finally came out. Our romantic escapades returned to a more normal schedule. Fast forward to last week while I was reading a book, when Mr. G put his foot down and DEMANDED I take a break from my YA books and read some sexy-time books again, for his benefit.

So that, my gingersnaps, is what inspired me to give away only non-YA books today. Some are sexier than others, but all fall in the category of "adult".

FYI: The official descriptions of each book are publisher descriptions that were stolen borrowed from Amazon.

For the first book... this is actually one I've given away before, but I chose to give it away because it is the first book in a (completed) series of 5 books. This series is one of my all-time favorite series. When people ask me what new series to read, I immediately tell them to read this. The books in these series are so much fun to read and while it's not one of the sexier books, there are some steamy scenes in there. I absolutely adore the author and her writing style.

Soulless (The Parasol Protectorate) by Gail Carriger

October 1, 2009 The Parasol Protectorate (Book 1)
Alexia Tarabotti is laboring under a great many social tribulations. First, she has no soul. Second, she's a spinster whose father is both Italian and dead. Third, she was rudely attacked by a vampire, breaking all standards of social etiquette.

Where to go from there? From bad to worse apparently, for Alexia accidentally kills the vampire -- and then the appalling Lord Maccon (loud, messy, gorgeous, and werewolf) is sent by Queen Victoria to investigate.

With unexpected vampires appearing and expected vampires disappearing, everyone seems to believe Alexia responsible. Can she figure out what is actually happening to London's high society? Will her soulless ability to negate supernatural powers prove useful or just plain embarrassing? Finally, who is the real enemy, and do they have treacle tart?

SOULLESS is a comedy of manners set in Victorian London: full of werewolves, vampires, dirigibles, and tea-drinking.

I first started reading this series because it involved supernatural creatures and hello, I'M A RED-HEADED STEPCHILD TOO. *shrugs* I'm glad I read it because it's got a strong female lead (which I'm particularly fond of in my books), and has a great world that I'm fully entrenched in. The latest book in the series is about to come out. Can't wait to read it! Not extremely high on the sexy meter but has a few scenes that definitely keep it from being YA.

Red-Headed Stepchild (Sabina Kane) by Jaye Wells

April 1, 2009 Sabina Kane (Book 1)
In a world where being of mixed-blood is a major liability, Sabina Kane has the only profession fit for an outcast: assassin. But, her latest mission threatens the fragile peace between the vampire and mage races and Sabina must scramble to figure out which side she's on. She's never brought her work home with her---until now.

This time, it's personal.

This is the book I turned to when Mr. G made his "no more YA books for now" ultimatum. I can't remember the last time I laughed so much in a book, that still had some steamy sexy times. I'm totally in love with this author's writing and inhaled the sequel "The Art of Seducing a Naked Werewolf" the day after I read this. This is so much fun to read and had me almost wishing I could move to a small Alaska town if say... I wasn't married and had kids. Right after I read those two books, I went and bought every other book published by this author. She is hysterical.

How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf by Molly Harper

February 22, 2011
Northern Exposure

Even in Grundy, Alaska, it’s unusual to find a naked guy with a bear trap clamped to his ankle on your porch. But when said guy turns into a wolf, recent southern transplant Mo Wenstein has no difficulty identifying the problem. Her surly neighbor Cooper Graham—who has been openly critical of Mo’s ability to adapt to life in Alaska—has trouble of his own. Werewolf trouble.

For Cooper, an Alpha in self-imposed exile from his dysfunctional pack, it’s love at first sniff when it comes to Mo. But Cooper has an even more pressing concern on his mind. Several people around Grundy have been the victims of wolf attacks, and since Cooper has no memory of what he gets up to while in werewolf form, he’s worried that he might be the violent canine in question.

If a wolf cries wolf, it makes sense to listen, yet Mo is convinced that Cooper is not the culprit. Except if he’s not responsible, then who is? And when a werewolf falls head over haunches in love with you, what are you supposed to do anyway? The rules of dating just got a whole lot more complicated. . . .

Okay, now we're getting into the maximum sexy times series. You will be attacking your partner on a nightly basis if you are reading this. This is actually book 2, which I chose to give away because I like it better than book 1. But each book in this series features another guy & girl and their stories all intertwine. I truly loved this world. It also intertwines with the author's Dream-Hunter and Were-Hunter series.

Night Pleasures by Sherrilyn Kenyon

September 15, 2009 Dark-Hunter Novels

The Dark-Hunters are ancient warriors who have sworn to protect mankind and the fate of the world is in their hands. . .

He is solitude. He is darkness. He is the ruler of the night. Yet Kyrian of Thrace has just woken up handcuffed to his worst nightmare: An accountant. Worse, she's being hunted by one of the most lethal vampires out there. And if Amanda Devereaux goes down, then he does too. But it's not just their lives that are hanging in the balance. Kyrian and Amanda are all that stands between humanity and oblivion. Let's hope they win.

And finally, another series that is on the very top of the sexy meter, is the first book in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. This too will have you attack your partner at least once a day, but also has a substantial storyline that is strong in and of itself. Each book in the series features another member of the BDB and their story, as well as cameos from all the other characters.

Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood, Book 1) by J. R. Ward

October 4, 2011

In the shadows of the night in Caldwell, New York, there's a deadly turf war going on between vampires and their slayers. There exists a secret band of brothers like no other-six vampire warriors, defenders of their race. Yet none of them relishes killing their enemies-the lessers-more than Wrath, the leader of the Black Dagger Brotherhood.

The only purebred vampire left on earth, Wrath has a score to settle with the slayers who murdered his parents centuries ago. But, when one of his most trusted fighters is killed, leaving his half-breed daughter unaware of his existence or her fate, Wrath must usher her into the world of the undead-a world of sensuality beyond her wildest dreams.

Okay, here are the rules: With every giveaway I've ever given, I've always done the one entry per person thing. I'm going to try something different this time.

You may only enter to win ONE BOOK. Please leave a comment (and your email address) and let me know which book you want to win. (Sorry, U.S. residents only)

Each person can get up to 4 entries for the book they want to win. If you leave a comment telling me which book you're entering for... you get one entry. If you leave a comment and follow this blog (see top of sidebar), you get two entries. If you leave a comment, follow this blog and share the link to my giveaway on Twitter, you get three entries. And if you do all of the above and share on Facebook, you get FOUR entries.

**IMPORTANT** There's no way I can keep track of who is doing what. So in your comment, I need you to tell me what book you want to win, and what other things you've done.

(example: "I want to win the Soulless book, I just became one of your blog followers, and am sharing on twitter and facebook")

Then I will know to enter you four times for that book. Make sense?

**You have until midnight tonight Eastern (9pm Pacific) to enter this giveaway.**

By the way... each of these books are available in either paperback or Kindle version. The winners (WHO WILL BE ANNOUNCED TOMORROW) can tell me which format they prefer to receive their winning book when their names are announced.

Well what are you waiting for? Let's celebrate this blogoversary!

***UPDATE: I've had a change of heart. How can I celebrate my TWO year blogoversary without giving you TWO days to enter?? Also, during every giveaway my good-natured but sad peeps in the UK & Canada tell me they wish they could enter. So guess what? I'm opening the giveaway to UK & Canada!
